Among the companies benefiting from artificial intelligence (AI) entering the mainstream are semiconductor giants Broadcom (NASDAQ: AVGO) and Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA). As a result, Broadcom stock skyrocketed to a 52-week high of $186.

The artificial intelligence (AI) boom has been a huge benefit to the business, and with the stock up more than 10x in just a few short years, it would be understandable for investors who didn't get in earlier to think they missed the boat.

Warren Buffett is the CEO of Berkshire Hathaway ( BRK.A 0.30%) ( BRK.B 0.18%), which has delivered an annual return of 19.8% since Buffett took the helm in 1965. That could have turned an investment of $1,000 into more than $42 million. The same investment in the S&P 500 index would have grown to just $308,115 over the same period.

US tech giant Nvidia is spreading its investments into smaller-cap AI companies, which will help promote the adoption of its products. This comes as demand for its graphics processing units (GPUs) is on an increase and projected to remain firm supported by continued adoption of the AI technology across sectors.
