West Virginia University director of athletics Wren Baker announced Monday that Chad Scott will be the Mountaineers’ interim head coach for the team’s upcoming bowl game following the departure of Neal Brown.

Offensive coordinator Chad Scott has been named the new interim coach for the West Virginia Mountaineers. West Virginia athletic director Wren Baker announced Scott will take over for former coach Neal Brown in a press release Monday. Baker fired Brown Dec. 1.

After announcing the firing of head coach Neal Brown on Sunday, West Virginia will head into its bowl game with offensive coordinator Chad Scott as interim coach, the school announced Monday. Scott has been with the Mountaineers since 2019,

Scott was co-offensive coordinator/running backs coach his first three seasons with the Mountaineers. In 2022, Scott’s title changed to run game coordinator/running backs coach, and in the 2023 and 2024 seasons, Scott has served as offensive coordinator/running backs coach.
