Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde resigned as Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Tuesday amid suspense over Mahayuti's choice of the next contender for the top post. Shinde tendered his resignation to Governor CP Radhakrishnan at the Raj Bhavan in Mumbai.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday morning met Governor C P Radhakrishnan and tendered his resignation following the results of the assembly elections.The governor asked Shinde to act as a caretaker chief minister till a new CM is sworn in.

BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde are reportedly competing for the chief ministerial position in Maharashtra.
