At least six Democrats in Congress say they were targeted with a bomb threat over the Thanksgiving holiday. Four Democratic representatives from Connecticut said Thursday they were targeted with bomb threats while home celebrating Thanksgiving with their families. Sen. Chris Murphy’s office said he was also targeted.

The House minority leader has called for Congress to provide “maximum protection” to House Democrats and their families.

The five targeted Congress members said Thursday they were safe and there was no evidence of explosives at their homes despite the threats.

Bomb threats were reported on Thursday at the homes of Senator Chris Murphy as well as Reps. Jahana Hayes, Joe Courtney, John Larson and Jim Himes, the top-ranking Democratic member of the House Intelligence Committee, according to their offices. All represent the state of Connecticut.

The representatives and senator, all from Connecticut, have said their homes were targeted with bomb threats on Thanksgiving.

Several Democratic lawmakers, their families, and law enforcement personnel were reportedly victims of bomb threats and “swatting” incidents amid a flurry of harassment directed at elected officials.
