Western and Upstate New York are still shoveling out from under several feet of snow. Both areas got pummeled with several feet of Lake Effect snow during the Thanksgiving holiday. Roads were closed and cars were left stranded on major highways. A tractor trailer ban was put in place.

A winter storm packing heavy snow and rain is on its way to New York state, threatening Thanksgiving travel plans for millions as people leave home ahead of the holiday.

A “dynamic mid-latitude cyclone” is spreading scattered showers and thunderstorms onto the East Coast on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
