Friday was the wettest day of the 2024 in many areas, including San Francisco, which received 2.97 inches of rain — or 13% of its annual yearly rainfall in one day — and Oakland, which received 2.46 inches in one day. San Jose saw less on Friday, .72 inches, for its wettest day since Feb. 2, when .87 inches fell.

This week’s atmospheric river storm smashed some heavy rainfall records in parts of the Bay Area, especially the North Bay, before mostly petering out by Saturday morning. Downtown Santa Rosa received 12.

Rain fell again in the Bay Area on Monday, following a mostly dry Sunday that came after the most powerful storm of 2024. Yet, it seemed to fall with considerably less force. “It’s a light rain,” National Weather Service meteorologist Rick Kaplan said.

The Bay Area had a chance to dry off a bit this weekend after the past few days' deluge. After some high rain totals, some communities are cleaning up flooding, and others are preparing for the next wave of the storm.
