South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Company this week unveiled its all-new, battery-powered Ioniq 9 at a global launch event held at the iconic Goldstein House in Los Angeles. This follows the release of teaser images of the vehicle over the past two months.

Ahead of the LA Auto Show this week, Hyundai showed off its brand-new three-row all-electric SUV with a suite of features that the Korean automaker is convinced will appeal to fickle American car buyers.

Hyundai has unveiled a striking electric SUV with a standard 110.3-kwh battery and up to 335 miles of estimated range.

The Hyundai Ioniq 9 features a huge 110kWh battery offering up to 385 miles of range. The three different power options are Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive, Long Range All-Wheel Drive and Performance All-Wheel Drive, the latter with its high-powered motors on the front and rear axles getting from 0-62mph in just 5.2 seconds.

Hyundai adds to its electric portfolio with the new Ioniq 9, a three-row SUV that is the biggest EV so far from the carmaker. It’s about two inches longer overall than a Hyundai Palisade and nine inches longer in wheelbase. Hyundai says it will compete with the Tesla Model X and Rivian R1S.

Based on the three-row Seven concept that debuted in 2021, Ioniq 9 is the biggest vehicle the Korean automaker makes, along with the three-row Palisade. It will also likely be the most expensive, continuing the run of pricey EVs aimed at premium buyers willing to pay $10,000-$20,000 north of petrol-powered peers.
