In one of two separate notices, NHTSA announced the recall of certain electrical vehicles from Hyundai, Kia and Genesis, citing a loss of drive power from damaged charging units that “increases the risk of a crash.

Over 200,000 electric vehicles from both Hyundai and Kia have been recalled due to a problem that could cause loss of drive power.

Hyundai’s recall encompasses over 145,000 cars, including some IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 EVs along with Genesis GV60, Genesis GV70 and Genesis G80 models.

Hyundai and Kia are recalling more than 200,000 vehicles because their integrated charging control units may have issues that could result in loss of drive power.

The NHTSA recently announced recalls for 305,996 vehicles, including models from Stellantis, Fisker, Honda, Kia, and Hyundai.
