A Powerball ticket sold in Virginia won $1 million but just missed the $184 million jackpot, lottery officials say. The ticket matched five winning numbers, but not the Powerball, in the drawing Monday, Nov. 25, the national Powerball site said.

The jackpot was last won on Oct. 23 when a Georgia lottery player won a $478.2 million Powerball jackpot. Meanwhile, the Mega Millions jackpot is at $489 million with a cash option of $225.3 million, according to the Mega Millions website.

A Powerball player just missed a $172 million jackpot — but still scored a prize worth celebrating in North Carolina. The player bought a ticket that matched all but one number picked in the Nov. 23 drawing, making it worth $50,000, results show. The winning numbers: white balls 12-13-34-44-67, with red ball 8.
