Congress Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday said that as the Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi has the right to meet the victims of the violence-hit Sambhal and he cannot be stopped by police at the Ghazipur border from proceeding ahead.

Gandhi is expected to leave Delhi at 10 am for Sambhal and visit the families of those killed in the November 24 violence. After meeting the families, Gandhi will return to Delhi by road, according to his itinerary.

Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were stopped at the Ghazipur border on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway while they were on their way to violence-hit Sambhal on Wednesday. A video captured barriers and a significant police presence near the border.
