By John Irish and Tom Balmforth (Reuters) -Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has urged his NATO counterparts to issue an invitation to Kyiv at a meeting in Brussels next week to join the Western military alliance,

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also urged NATO leaders to immediately approve the uncontested parts of Ukraine for membership.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has urged NATO to invite Kyiv to join the alliance, as part of a plan to end Russia's war. Although understanding the current lack of consensus, Ukraine seeks a political move with NATO's invitation,

"We believe that the invitation should be extended at this stage," Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha wrote in a letter to his NATO counterparts.

Andrij Sybiha, the head of Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has requested that NATO members send an official invitation for Ukraine to join the Alliance. According to a message shared by the Reuters agency,

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has called on NATO counterparts to invite Kyiv to join the alliance. Although Ukraine accepts it cannot join until the war ends, an invitation would signal resistance to Russian goals.

Andrij Sybiha, the head of Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has requested NATO members to extend an official invitation for Ukraine to join the Alliance. According to a report by the Reuters agency,
