MPs who voted in favour of the assisted dying bill have raised concerns about parts of it and want to see changes before giving it final approval. Some are worried about the bill's provisions to allow doctors to raise assisted dying as an option without the terminally ill patient having asked for it first.

The majority of Conservative MPs voted against (an 80/20 split, so a score of 0.60), along with most of the independents who voted, and the majority of the MPs from Northern Ireland (the DUP’s 1.0 score mirroring the Greens). And the SNP abstained en bloc.

It’s such a clever little euphemism, “assisted dying”. Makes the whole thing sound so kind and helpful, doesn’t it? Much nicer and less bleak than “assisted suicide”. Or, for that matter, “exciting and perfectly legal opportunity to bump off the silly old bat,
