Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has been arrested in six cases related to the protests on September 28, October 4, and October 5. However, no arrest has been made yet in the 28 cases related to the November 24 protest.

Opposition supporters in Pakistan have temporarily called off protests demanding the release of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, a day after marching on central Islamabad. Protesters had vowed not to leave the capital until Khan's release.

Pakistan’s opposition party of former prime minister Imran Khan ended its protest in the capital Islamabad on Wednesday as the government arrested hundreds of its supporters in an overnight crackdown after two days of deadly demonstrations.

Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, spokesperson for Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced that Afghan nationals had been arrested during protests by Imran Khan’s supporters in Islamabad. She stated that the Ministry of Interior would soon release details about the identities and number of those arrested.

Pakistani police have levelled multiple charges against imprisoned former premier Imran Khan, his wife and others for inciting people to violence.

The charges stem from violent protests across the country in which supporters of Khan took to the streets to demand his release.

The unrest coincided with renewed sectarian violence in Kurram district, where eight more people were killed on Thursday following deadly clashes earlier this month.View on euronews
