Bangladesh government on Tuesday reacted to India’s statement on the arrest of Hindu priest and said that it not only misrepresent facts but also stand contrary to the spirit of friendship and understanding between the two neighboring countries.

Bangladesh rejected India's statement on the Hindu monk's arrest. The arrest followed specific charges. Dhaka expressed disappointment over the misrepresentation of the situation. Bangladesh emphasised its commitment to religious harmony.

Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu, who enjoys massive popularity in Bangladesh, urged his supporters to remain peaceful and avoid disrupting public order.

The victim was identified as Saiful Islam, a 35-year-old assistant public prosecutor and a member of the Chattogram District Bar Association
