Israel approved a United States-brokered ceasefire agreement with Lebanon's Hezbollah on Tuesday, setting the stage for an end to nearly 14 months of fighting linked to the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.

Questions remain over whether a truce can bring lasting stability to the volatile Lebanon-Israel border, writes Firas Maksad.

Netanyahu said that how long the ceasefire lasted would depend on what happened in Lebanon. "We will enforce the agreement and respond forcefully to any violation. We will continue united until victory," he said.
