MEMPHIS, Tenn — Shelby County leaders said Tuesday a tentative agreement is in place to provide nearly $34 million for a new high school in Frayser.

The funds would have to be allocated at the Shelby County Commission’s meetings on Dec. 11 and Dec. 16, the last two before the end of the year.

Total funding for the new state-of-the-art high school has now reached $112 million. MSCS Superintendent Dr. Marie Feagins said the additional funding will allow construction to start sooner than expected.

Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris and Memphis-Shelby County Schools Superintendent Dr. Marie Feagins reached an agreement to approve $34 million to the new Frayser High School. The funding will go to the Shelby County Board of Commissioners to approval on December 11 and 16.
