A group of pro-Palestine protesters have been arrested after briefly disrupting the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. The New York Police Department arrested 21 people in Manhattan on Thursday morning, local outlet ABC 7 NY reports, after the group ran in front of the Ronald McDonald float and briefly stopped the parade.

Pro-Palestinian protesters briefly disrupted the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York, calling attention to the war in Gaza. Police arrested 21 demonstrators who sat on the parade route holding Palestinian flags and a banner reading “Don’t Celebrate Genocide”.

The group — which has not been identified — jumped the protective barriers at W. 55th Street and Sixth Avenue where they sat on the ground and chanted “Free Palestine.” The group blocked the large Ronald McDonald float. Posters on the ground read “Don’t celebrate genocide” and “Arms embargo now.”
