Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Tuesday said Canada must stay united against a threat by Donald Trump to impose tariffs but two major provinces quickly called on him to address the U.S. President-elect's concerns.

The PMO says that a first ministers’ meeting will be held Wednesday, signaling the urgency Trudeau and premiers feel about Trump’s statements.

Many of the prime minister’s political opponents were as critical of him as about the president-elect’s plan, which would adversely affect Canada’s economy.
