The latest move from Canada Post comes after the union filed an unfair labour practice complaint with the Canada Industrial Relations Board over the layoffs of striking employees, saying the layoffs are an "intimidation tactic" that violates the Canada Labour Code.

The move by the United States Postal Service comes after some 55,000 Canada Post workers walked off the job more than two weeks ago.

WASHINGTON — The United States Postal Service announced a temporary suspension of international mail services to Canada because of the ongoing national strike by Canadian postal workers.

The Canadian Union of Postal Works says there's been no word from the mediator that talks in the labour dispute with Canada Post will resume.

Canada Post has also been crushed by the boom in Canadians using other low-cost delivery services. In terms of e-commerce, Canada Post’s market share has dropped to 29 per cent from 62 per cent in 2019.

Emily Walstrom was travelling internationally when he died but had arranged for his remains to be cremated in Surrey and mailed to Ile-Perrot, west of Montreal, where she lives. Walstrom planned to take the remains to Winnipeg for a proper burial.
