Israel approved a United States-brokered ceasefire agreement with Lebanon's Hezbollah on Tuesday that would end nearly 14 months of fighting linked to the war in the Gaza Strip.

Under the agreement, Israeli troops would retreat from southern Lebanon while Hezbollah would move its forces further away from the Israeli-Lebanon border.

US President Joe Biden has announced a ceasefire deal to end 13 months of fighting between Israel and with Hezbollah, the Lebanese militia supported by Iran. In a joint statement, the US and France said the agreement would cease fighting in Lebanon and "secure Israel from the threat of Hezbollah and other terrorist organisations".
