In a one-on-one interview with 1010 WINS, newly-appointed NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said that she plans to modernize the department with technology like AI and drones, alongside a more traditional push to deploy more officers to the streets.

"The police exist to eliminate fear and disorder... and they do a damn good job of it," the new top cop said. "We will continue to do that most important foundational work to make you safe, make you feel safe and to improve the quality of life across the city.

The New York City Police Department's newest commissioner, Jessica Tisch, is set to be sworn in Monday. Tisch will become the second female commissioner in the NYPD's 179-year history, and the fourth person to lead the department under Mayor Eric Adams.
